gippetto Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) Updated December 14, 2014(Just after the Patch Tuesday 12/9/2014)A small as I can complete step-by-step guide to:WinToolkitAs I did not found a truly comprehensive guide to this fantastic tool, I took the time to write a brand new one.First, as I’m not that deep in all the staff and as I’m not an English mother language I would accept any kindly correction you would provide to me. I’m considering this a work in progress.Second, I’m aware that I made some choices here that are personal ones, please don’t hung me on those ones. What was the goal of the jobCreate AIO ISOs customized with multiple languages integrated and with all updates integrated. What I used to get the job doneWindows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 update 1 original ISOs.As I’m Italian and I have MSDN subscription I used those ones:For Windows 7 Kithttp://www.microsoft.com/it-it/download/details.aspx?id=39982with two option Distribution Tools and Windows PE environment.WinToolkitWindows Updates Downloaderhttp://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/ProgramFiles.aspxas preferred tools to download the updates because it downloads them and preserve their creation timestamp and organize them in a more suitable fashion. For Windows 8.1 update 1 I also downloaded and usedScript tool from abbodi1406http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/48600-Add-Multilingual-Support-to-Windows-8-1-Setup-DVD-automated-batch-scriptAbbodi1406 script works only with Windows 8.1 update 1 images.OrganizationI made a structured folders system: one for Windows 7 SP1 and another for Windows 8.1 update 1Windows 7 SP1Windows 8.1 update 1I will go deep into them, as I will describe the process but take this as fundamental: organization is most the important thing.Create AIO x86 and x64I unzipped ISO files with 7-zip and created two set of AIO one for x86 and one for x64 systems. Here you have sample snapshots of the process:Then I named the folders this way:For now on I did a parallel two processes of integration for x86 AIOs and x64 AIOs.Integrate LanguagesWindows 7 SP1I extracted the Language Pack and the Local Pack from the ISOs and started the integration of them with WinToolkit All-In-One Integrator.I did it for AIO x86 and the AIO x64.Windows 8.1 update 1I used abbodi1406 script to integrate languages and Microsoft .Net 3.5 into Windows 8.1 update 1 images. Here is the sample of the organization of the folders and the script:For sure I did one folder and one script for each set: x86 and x64Integrate IE11 (only Windows 7 SP1)I used WinToolkit All-In-One Integrator.Prerequisites Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5.2 is not included, actually, you should go through this step.I will give you a sample of how you can setup this stage but, for sure, you can customize it as you want. This is how I setup the Complements and Tweaks folders. This is the SetupComplete.cmd script I'm suggesting:@echo offdel /q "%USERPROFILE%\DESKTOP\*.lnk"del /q "%PUBLIC%\DESKTOP\*.lnk"start /wait %SystemDrive%\x64\DOTNET\BASE\NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe /qstart /wait %SystemDrive%\x64\DOTNET\BASE\NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ITA.exe /qstart /wait %PUBLIC%\DESKTOP\INSTALL-COMPLETE.lnkshutdown -r -f -t 10This script must be imported in: %SystemDrive%\Windows\Setup\ScriptsTo implement this script I used WinToolkit All-In-One Integrator.and exacly this one:This will import x64 folder inside the complements one in the root of the system drive. For sure you need to organize a x64 and x86 folders with all needed. To get the job done smoothly I did a trick.I created a link on the desktop to point the SetupComplete01.cmd file into the CMD folder named INSTALL-COMPLETE.lnk and renamed it INSTALL-COMPLETE.ln_ to have the file imported. As you can see in the SetupComplete.cmd the last two commands rename back the file and put it on the desktop to have a simple link to the SetupComplete01.cmd that provides this final commands:@echo offreg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v BrowserChoice /fdel /q %PUBLIC%\DESKTOP\*.lnkdel /q %USERPROFILE%\DESKTOP\*.lnkrd /s /q %SystemDrive%\Windows\Setup\Scripts\shutdown -r -f -t 10rd /s /q %SystemDrive%\x64\This will clean up everything you have to clean up and ends smoothly the installation.I also did this tweaks configuration too:#ServicesIP Helper::DisabledOffline one sample of it.Clean up the images (optional)If you want, you can go one step forward and clean up all the images one by one. It’s a boring job but at the end you can have AIO ISOs files lighter of about 1 GB at least. These snapshots will give you how to do this job.You will start with WIM ManagerYou will mount the image you want to shrinkYou will launch the Cleanup ManagerYou will flag allYou will go with CleanYou will have all cleanedThen you will unmount the image. Then if you are going to do the same cleaning for other images you will simple save changesIf it’s the latest image you have cleaned up you will save and rebuild.Create WINAIO x86 and x64Now you’re done the full job and ready to create your ISO.If you want a full x86 and x64 AIO you will first go with:And you will create you WINAIO x86 and x64 folderFinally, you can create your ISOThe job is done!P.S.You can accomplish the same kind of job using the same pattern for Windows Server 2008 R2 alongside with Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2012 R2 alongside with Windows 8.1 as they have each other most of the updates in common. spiderman_pink Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 thanks for very useful tutorial!question, i'm using a win 7 x64 sp1 iso with the ei.cfg removed so that it can be a multiple edition installer (home basic/prem/pro/ultimate).i just want to integrate the updates for now. when i start the aio integrator, it asks me which version to mount. how can i apply the updates to all the editions? do i have to do it one by one (i.e mount basic then prem then pro then ultimate)? u81 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Its really a very well detailed and well laid out guide. However, the only question I have at the moment is why did you do this in 4 stages. Can it not be done in just one stage. The reason i ask is that I've integrate all of the updates downloaded with Windows update downloader and the installation fails. I don't know how to resolve it and I don't need a setup as elaborate as yours, just the Home Premium version is fine for me, so again just wondering why does it need to be done in as many stages. Thanksu81 Quote

bphlpt Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 ... I would greatly appreciate if I could make a guide with integrated images.I understand I have few posts but it's only because I post only if I think I can contribute. Many posts don't mean always great contribution. sometimes it just means useless posts.I always use one of the many free image hosting sites for any images I want to post on any of the forums I participate in, and would suggest you try that. When you click the "Image" button in the Edit Box toolbar, you simply put in the link to your image and the image should appear integrated in the post the way you want it. Some of the many advantages to this approach are that it usually always works in all the forums that I'm aware of, it makes it easier for you to then use that same image in other places if you need to, and it doesn't take up any of the board storage space and takes up less of its bandwidth. And it's easy. EDIT: In looking closer at your tutorial, it seems that you probably tried to do as I suggested, but when you tried to insert your .png images, you probably got this message when you tried to post: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.so you switched to [ url ] links instead, thinking you were not able to post images for some reason? Well, I got the same result when I tried it, so it's not you. For some reason the board software doesn't seem to like either ImageShack, (I don't have an account there so I couldn't verify that), or it doesn't like .png images, or something. When I took one of your images, converted it to .jpg, and uploaded it to imgur.com, I was able to link to the image, (the image had to have the .jpg extension in the link), and have it displayed embedded in the post as it should be.I'll send a note to NIM, the admin, to see if there is some setting he can change to allow .png images. I would hope he can, because the .png images from ImageShack show up just fine while editing the post, it just won't let you actually save the post. In the meantime, you might want to go ahead and convert your images to .jpg, and possibly try a different image hosting service. Postimage.org or Tinypic.com are two other alternative services. I can do all that for you if you need the help. We'll get it working one way or the other.EDIT 2: NIM confirmed that .png files are already allowed. So I downloaded your 1.png file from ImageShack, and uploaded it to imgur.com, Postimage.org and Tinypic.com. They all worked as desired as you can see here:Here's 1.png at imgur.com Here's 1.png at postimg.org Here's 1.png at tinypic.com Something is different about the way that ImageShack works, or doesn't work. If you look at the BBCode, you will see that the above images are all direct links, ie complete with the .png extension. I don't know if such a thing is available at ImageShack or not. Quite frankly, I tried to use ImageShack to resolve these questions and failed. I discovered that I did already have a free account there, and was able to log into my account, but then was not successful in even being able to upload an image. I got an error message that said roughly -- "One or more image failed to upload. Try again later." -- no matter how often I tried, and I couldn't figure out how to upload an image anonymously, if that is even possible. So to do what you want in your tutorial you might have to either get direct links from ImageShack, or use a different service. That's the best I can tell at this point. I'd be happy to discuss further options with you, either here in the thread or via PM whichever you think is more appropriate. Once we get the matter resolved, I'll delete these posts, or move them to a more suitable location, so they won't distract from the tutorial. As you work to fine tune your posts, you might find it helpful to edit in BBCode Mode, instead of WYSIWYG mode, if you are familiar with BBCode. To toggle in and out of BBCode mode, click the little button in the top left of the Edit Box, directly above the "B" button. It should have a popup label of "BBCode Mode". You might need to make some edits in one mode and some in the other to get it to look exactly like you want it to. NOTE: There have been enough problems in the past with the board software that if you are making or editing a long post I would strongly suggest occasionally saving your post in BBCode mode with "Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C" on a regular basis so that if something goes wrong, and it often will. you don't have to start over from scratch. The IPBoard software can be a royal pain at times. Some folks even prefer to create or edit their post using Notepad or some other text editor and copy the completed post in when it is ready. Thanks again for putting up such a great tutorial.Cheers and Regards Quote
bphlpt Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 @gippetto, I hope you don't mind, but I went ahead and downloaded your images from ImageShack and uploaded them to imgur.com, they are still in .png format, and the links to them work as they are supposed to, so I used them in your tutorial, along with some minor spacing and bolding edits, and one spelling correction. I kept a copy of your tutorial as you uploaded it and I will be glad to put it back if you prefer. Just let me know. Cheers and Regards Quote

kostas81 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Hey guys new user here. Its very hard for me to follow the OP. Can't really understand his guide. Is there anywhere else anyother guide to read? or even better a video? Thanks Quote
bphlpt Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 This is actually quite a good tutorial. To better understand it, you might should read this page - http://www.wincert.net/forum/files/file/5-win-toolkit/ - along with the included links to give you an overall feel for all the various pieces and options available. You could also check this out if you speak Spanish, (though Google translate does a decent job) - http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/9217-proyecto-windows-7-sp1-actualizado/ - and watch this video, also in Spanish - http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/10311-c%C3%B3mo-usar-wintoolkit-recomendaciones/ - then come back here and go through this tutorial again. It will probably make more sense then. It goes step by step and even shows you pictures showing what your file/folder structure should look like, so you should be able to make some experiments on your own and make some decent progress. Then ask specific questions for things you still don't understand. Good luck and welcome to WinCert! Cheers and Regards Quote
Attended Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I've a question about the cleanup part, you easily delete the winsxs backup and manifest files, if i read on other fora then i read a lot of warnings that this could end in a lot of problems later when using the windows. So my question is, is it realy save to delete these files? One thing about the silent installer option, why does a big install screen popup with the progress info in it? that seems to me not to be silent. Quote
Michael Campa Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Wow, I am surprised how many of you seemed to have understood what was written here. It does seem great, it does seem detailed, and kudos as well to all the work put into it but why is it then that I understood so little? One thing I had a problem with is the HUGE images (I have a 27" monitor) making many of the photos unlookable, therefore unreadable, as one photo since one has to scroll up/down/left/right to see the whole thing. Also some of them were italian (And I can speak/read italian) and this to me was confusing seeing that my OS and all else is in English. My apologies if this sounds negative or a complaint of any kind, this is not my intention. But seeing that I understood just about nothing I was wondering if there was another guide somewhere? One more catered to newbies and not techies. thanks Quote
