Ok so there's no way possible to get the Hover effect? Oh well I guess, the ported version is alot better than Thoosje.. since I can get whatever gadget I want. Thanks for the sidebar :D

If you really want a sidebar on XP with the Vista fading effect, you'll need to use the Google Desktop. The fade isn't exactly like Vista but it is there. Be aware that it uses probably just as many resources of the Vista sidebar.

Thank you ambo,

Here is a brief explanation for others who wants to use ricktendo64's Windows Sidebar with XP64

(all found by ambo with ricktendo64's support , I write these down only to gather them together for others.)

0) xp64 needed installations (nice users may already installed these):

0_a) .NET Framework 2 (i always install .NET Framework 3 too)

0_B) Internet Explorer 7

0_c) Wmp11x64 (Windows Media Player 11 64bit)

0_d) Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

0_e) Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

1) put tskill.exe (provided by ricktendo64) to system32 folder. http://www.mediafire.com/?zjky4xdgm1g

2) setup alky

3) right click Sidebar.inf and choose install.

With best wishes to use ricktendo64's Windows Sidebar in future with 2003x64 too ;) .

Thanks a lot for your answers ambo and ricktendo64 :) .

Currency does not work, but RSS should... If it does not try using the modded wlsrvc.dll you find here

The reason for the gadgets not being present is in there also... use LCID to identify your Operating System Locale and rename the es-ES to example es-AR (for Argentina)

You wouldn't by any chance have Windows Sidebar Styler installed would you?

If so Uninstall it or make sure .Net Framework 3.0 and 3.5 above are installed

Hey Rick...great port of sidebar to XP.

The only problem I have is when I try to download more gadgets from the MS site. I get a warning box that says "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded."

I don't have any issues with any other downloaded files...what setting might be keeing me from downloading?

Thanks!!!

- Merged all the following langs (tnx to Kal) into one convenient addon: en-US, cs-CZ, de-AT, de-CH, de-DE, de-LI, de-LU, el-GR, es-AR, es-BO, es-CL, es-CO, es-CR, es-DO, es-EC, es-SV, es-ES, es-GT, es-HN, es-MX, es-NI, es-PA, es-PE, es-PR, es-PY, es-UY, es-VE, fr-CA, fr-CH, fr-FR, fr-LU, it-CH, it-IT, ja-JP, nl-BE, nl-NL, pt-BR, pt-PT, tr-TR.

- Removed QuickLaunch shortcut to be more like Vista (also solves uninstall INF error for other langs)

- "GrpConv" error during manual install solved

- Merged all languages into one addon thanks to Kal for finding a trick on how to make international INF's

- Also many new sub-local's and translations that did not exist before are now supported like Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese and many more sub categories

- If your lang is not on the list don't worry, the default en-US Sidebar will be installed

Bring on the HATE! :P

BTW: I need your feedback ppl (expecially non english XP users), I wanna know if your lang was detected by the INF and if not what is your LCID (open a CMD window and type LCID) manual install or XP setup should not matter

Also if any of you see any problems with the dialog translations plz fix them and post them in the sidebar translations section or here

- Silent update, added the following English locales to Strings: en-AU, en-BZ, en-CA, en-CB, en-GB, en-IE, en-JM, en-NZ, en-PH, en-TT, en-US, en-ZA

- Now uses process.exe to close sidebar (fixes issue for some with tskill.exe)

- Vista fonts are now registered during TXTSETUP (they can now be used earlier in the Windows Billboard Setup if needed)

- Fixed French translation of RecycleBin(XP).Gadget

Same addon name as the previous Intl release, verify update with MD5 hash

thanks for this rick! this addon is one that i've always been on the lookout for :) ... i'd just like to aks if there'd be a specific addon for Eng XP only (i'm thinking maybe the file size would be smaller)? thanks!

Hello Mr. Rick. :)

It neglects to call fairly.

We wish sincerely to express our gratitude for the revival of a Japanese version.

The problem that cannot be uninstalled in the latest version occurs.

The directory of Process.exe doesn't exist.

It is possible to uninstall it normally by specifying C:\WINDOWS\system32\Process.exe.

Please examine it.

[ Addition ]

; Copies LCID to "%WinDir\system32" (during [DefaultInstall] only)

[Copy.sys32]

lcid.exe ; [ 5804 lines ]

process.exe ; It doesn't exist.
