You dont have to delete the manifest's or re-patch anything, sidebar should work fine out of the box if you added atl.dll

I have had a go at it where I don't patch anything. The result is the same. That was the first time I tried to install the Sidebar from Wincert.Net. From the 1st page from this post.

Then I looked through the post to see if somebody had the same error as me. And I fell over a someone describing/guiding people to patch these files.

I'm having issues installing this on Windows XP Professional x64. I've tryed the Alchy XP as well as the Server 2003 version. Neither of which allow the Sidebar to be installed, after clicking Yes I receive "INF Install failure. Reason: Could not retrieve the system message. You may run out of the system resource." & nothing else happens. Any ideas?

Edit: I see the member above me is having the same issue. Any feedback?

I'm also having this issue. Fresh install with all available updates insalled.

Now, i have SP3 installed. The Error is since SP3. Before (SP2) i had the W-Lan API.

(sorry for my bad english...)

so you have had this error since SP3 and before? or since SP3?

and if it is then uninstall SP3. and see if it works. if not.

uninstall windows sidebar. then reinstall using the FAQ.

and if that don't work then uninstall windows sidebar and install SP3.

then install windows sidebar.

i know its a long task to do but it should work. ( i hope )

just downloaded the previous sidebar release 6.0.6001.18000, installed it and it runs without problems...

no more problems with missing stmessagew.dll :)

seems that it's the new version...

maybe if you already have installed the old version and just upgrade you will not have the problem, but i had it on two xp-sp3 systems which i just installed the os. and two other users encountered the same problem.

please let the developers know this issue. thanks.
