Sm0k3r Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Kel, any chance of you adding this to the CPL addon pack as it would be a good companion for CPU-Z Quote
bober Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 they updted it to v009. and the icon is now in teh same line as the cpu z, so yeah would be agreat addition to the cpl pack. Quote
newsposter Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 One big, on-going downside to GPU-Z is that more often than not, it will fail to ident virtualized video from VMWare, MSFT VirtualPC, and VirtualBox. Quote
bober Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 well even if it were supported,i wouldint see the point in wanting to know that u dont have enough capabilities to play games and such on a ?mb virtual video card.i bet the clock speeds would be prety weak. Quote
newsposter Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 The point is having a utility that works properly, not one that is trying to mimic the success of another. If GPU-Z can't ID something as common as VM virtualized video, what else is it cheating at? Quote
bober Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 (edited) well if u ask me reporting info on a hardware in a given database is not cheating or faking,if a device is supported then it is,of course if miss identifying occures, then its just an error, and that should be very easy to see..even with limited knowledge of ones hardware.that type of error is not tryign too fool anyone.and unsupported hardware is just not implemented yet,at least its not making up random info..and vm ware and all other virtual machines use virtual drivers for virtual hardware, its not using any official driver ,so its proly not in teh database..and i think that apps like cpu z and gpu z get their info from by the instlled drivers witch make the device operable, so if u have an ATI HD2900XT and its reporting u have a gefore 6100 then,id put my money on the computer kid genious nexdoor that just recently 'fixed' ure computer...lol Edited October 23, 2007 by bober Quote
ricktendo Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 My sucky built in GFX is not detected Quote

runningfool Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 well, it has no problem identifying my "wonderful" ATI 9000 mobility radeon :sweatingbullets: Quote
Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 CPU-Z Doesnt work in a VM enviroment either. Does that mean its trash? Face it somethings just don't work in VM... Quote
Gorki Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Off Topic: CPU-Z Doesnt work in a VM enviroment either. Does that mean its trash? Face it somethings just don't work in VM...I agree with Kell on this one. Plus both programs are monitoring/information programs so it's obvious that virtual environment can provide correct reading. But you must admit it's nice to have it on your XP collection Quote
