windows refuses to recognize my graphics card

[runningfool]

the screen in my old laptop died, so i decided to take it off, hook the laptop up to my t.v. and turn it into a 'media center'...i even took the extra time to make a custom windows cd for the job. everything went fine, except for some reason windows refuses to recognize my graphics card (which is hard-wired to the motherboard, so it didnt fall off or anything). none of the drivers that worked before are working now, and the device manager doesnt even have it listed as an unrecognized device: its as if the laptop doesnt even have a graphics card.

the graphics card is an ATI mobility radeon 9000M

my install cd is fairly simple...latest ryanvm update pack, NR's IE7 addon, boooggy's WMP11 integrator, DX9 march '08 addon, NR's MCE addon, rick's V'ISO patcher, and the usual slimming down with nLite. has this ever happened to anyone before...where windows simply refuses to recognize a graphics card that is cleaely there? and if so, is there a fix? any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to with a CLEAN windows CD?

Might be some corrupt registry entries or other stuff... You should also try to take the laptop apart and look at the connection between the MBO and the GPU.
