LUZR4LIFE Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I just called HP to ask for a Vista CD/DVD. When I asked the "Tech" if they could send me a Vista CD/DVD he asked me if I could be more clear on what I wanted. LOL, WTF. He told me that they could only supply me with a recovery disc and that if I used a "3rd party" CD/DVD that my warranty would be voided. HP considers WIndows CD/DVD's being 3rd party software.Just thought I would share. Quote
runningfool Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 hp computers come with a recovery partition on the hard drive, as well as the option to burn recovery disks from this same data. and installing over the OEM vista install may very well void the warranty. this practice may be a bit shady, but i can understand it...cost for the additional windows dvd's, additional support problems, etc. Quote
