i want to upgrade to ultimate i have a legal copy of home pre already on my desktop will i lose my act. rights i put it back on if i don't like ultimate or can i just reinstall home pre back on my desktop or do have to get new product key for home pre

Hi Lewis, you can upgrade your Vista Home Edition to Vista Ultimate edition and you won't loose your Vista Home activation if that was the question.

But, you will not be able to revert back to Vista Home Premium, you will have to reinstall it from scratch.

IMO, if you have Vista Home Premium, think twice before upgrading to Ultimate version:

Vista Home Edition probably is everything you need and it doesn't have the following features from Vista Ultimate:

Volume Shadow Copy

BitLocker (Drive Encryption)

Offline Folders

IIS Web Server

RMS

Fax and Scan

Ultimate extras, such as Dreamscene

I know it's an old topic, but I can share the process to upgrage Windows Vista Edition on a Notebook HP.

Tested successfuly and I've made an layout, but sorry this one is in French, but you can use a Translator.
