Thanks a lot for making it the best source patcher for XP.

Can you tell me how can i add Windows 7 Boot Screen to the patcher.

I mean i tried just copying the resources from here and replaced it inside the bootscr.res but the result looked horrible because the progress box looked out of place.

2 rubab

for more info on modifying bootsceen:

http://www.geocities.com/thejjoelc/XPbootcolors.html

http://www.thetechguide.com/howto/xpbootlogo/

but, if U want a custom-goodlooking bootscreen, your options are:

1. BootSkin

http://storage.stardock.com/files/bootskin_free.exe

2. TuneUp Utilities>WinStyler

http://www.tune-up.com/download/

(helps you to create custom boootscreen, but it saves it in a TUKernel file and changes your

boot.ini to point to it. U can save your original boot.ini priop to that. rename TUKernel to ntoskrnl and restore original boot.ini. U can use it, but if U try to import bitmaps from it, it's not going to work, since it's compiled-modified) btw, that's how it was done at http://www.askvg.com/download-windows-7-bo...for-windows-xp/

3. choose from variety of bootscreens at www.themexp.org

http://www.themexp.org/listings.php?type=b...c=&catdesc=

or

deviantART

hope it helps ;)

Internets is dying... Keyboard has lost will to live... :P

amnesia i always use XPtsp. I know a lot of good looking bootscreens can be found on Deviantart.

But what i am trying to get is a modified version of the bootscr.res which is found inside XPtsp.v1.1_batch\Resources\bootscr.res

Last time i edited bootscr.res to make the progress bar blue. But this time when i copy all the bitmaps of the Windows 7 bitmaps over bootscr.res's bitmaps the result looks bad. I mean the progress bar looks misplaced.

In the previous posts you have posted a lot of resources. Can you please post a edited Windows7 bootscr.res from the link i provided on my previous post.

You are asking for impossible thing, for changing bitmaps in .res file is not enough (because of kernel palette limitation and fixed position of progressbar)... unless You are using precompiled bootscreen or tools to customise it... don't You think Vishal would of post couple of bitmaps instead of pre-made kernel ? and quite honestly, sir, i for example see my bootsceen for 1 sec.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters]
"EnablePrefetcher"=dword:00000001

and i care more about getting into windows faster....

I also care about getting into windows faster. But still i am using XPtsp because i want to customize my OS as much as i can without slowing it down.

By the way thanks for clarifying about the bootscreen and the Registry entry.

Keep up the good work & have a nice day.

Ok, I've been looking for a better looking bootscreen and I found this:

What do you think about it?

well, the actual bitmap is

373540m.jpg

and pasted to kernel, sure thing it looks very much good and psychedelic for a New Year

16 colors are 16 color limited palette is limited palette

edit:

and how do U expect anything nice and fancy, when your video drivers loaded later on ? :g:

edit again:

...Microsoft evidently went to a little bit of trouble to hide this, because each hex value is backwards! For example, one of the orange colors in the original palette has the RGB value of "247 107 42", which translates in hex to "F7 6B 20". you will notice that it is listed as "20 6B F7" The values of each color in the palette are listed in this manner.
