pri2sh Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I have read some where in internet about over clocking and it improve performance also.. so does any 1 here know how to over clock my cpu ? and is it safe, disadvantages ? Quote
ricktendo Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Only overclock if your cpu is slow, now worth the risk ihmo Quote
NIM Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Newer motherboards have SMART overclocking, in the means of percentage overclocking feature where you're automatically overclocking cpu, memory etc..Check what's available in your BIOS Quote
Guest snakecracker Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Overclocking is good.But.You need to take in that when you overclock your CPU Temp. it will go up depending on how much you have overclocked it. Quote
ccl0 Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 there are many factors involved in overclocking. main thing is how high can you go but still have stability there is a lot of information to sift through, so i'd first suggest gathering all the info about your system. what processor it uses, type of ram, the type of motherboard etcfrom there you might be able to narrow it down more by searching 'how do i overclock x processor" where x is whatever one you might havei can tell you though if you have a computer from a major manufacturer like hp or dell then you are out of luck. they disable more advanced bios options and you are pretty much stuck with what you got Quote
pri2sh Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 my cpu & mother board is a bit old i think of 2004 and it is 2ghz.. there was some setting about cpu clock and i increased it to 120 from 100 it increased GHZ from 2 to 2.10 but i did not find any change. Quote
ccl0 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 yes, you won't notice anything with such a small overclock. most people only do it for gaming but in general every day use it does not really serve much of a purpose Quote
