In this one I found instructions on how to make usb boot. Could you please add this option. If you then begin to work, I also install silent.

DVD burning is impossible for me because I do not make normal-sized Image.

W7 Toolkit 1.0.1.25 - Win7 Ultimate w/SP1

When SoLor updates are selected the first time I can understand the need to select the updates by putting check marks in the boxes. That should not be required on subsequent selections of the SoLor updates - W7Toolkit should 'remember' the location of the downloads and which ones were checked - I should only have to put a check mark in the box of any new releases provided by SoLor.

Also, the reverse should be automatic; if an update has been removed from the list and SoLor updates is selected then W7Toolkit should compare the new SoLor updates to what is already in the download folder and delete any updates not on the most recent list from SoLor. I say this not knowing if SoLor generates a script of some kind that can be compared to what was on a previous download list so that w7Toolkit can compare the two and take action as necessary. If this can't be done or would be too difficult to program then please say so and ignore this recommendation.

Hope you won't consider my next request an offtopic one. :)

I've tried from windows 7 sp1 x64 (also from vista x64 with vista WAIK for non-DISM tools) to integrate/slipstream/inject drivers into a windows vista sp2 x64 image, with many programs... Vista Update Integrator, Vista Tool, Windows 7 Toolkit, GDism ELDI. None of them worked. :( Vlite also is famous for not integrating very well the chipset/mass storage drivers. I like to mention that I've tried the latest .infs from driverpacks packages, and let's say I'm an above average pc user.

My request is this: Please make a a feature (for this program, or another utility) that can also integrate drivers into vista. The same as with nlite, the integration, although it occurs without any errors, during setup NONE of the drivers integrated with Win 7 Toolkit are installed. I really don't know why. :(

I'm asking this because ar least Win 7 Toolkit doesn't give any errors like GDism ELDI for example...

The command specified is unknown or not supported when running DISM.exe against a Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or a Windows Server 2008 target image.

...but it's not helping me because the drivers, as I've said earlier, aren't recognized by windows vista during setup, although they are integrated by Windows 7 Toolkit.

Windows 7 without drivers isn't such a pain in the ..., but vista IS. And some of us (like my brother for example) have genuine vista licences, and they want to make use of them. Thank you again in advance (for the long reading at least), and hope you'll have time for this. :)

First, i don't have a copy of Windows Vista to test this on, i prefer to only work on the latest versions of Windows.

Some questions....

1. Assuming you have a Vista DVD, did that come with SP1 or SP2 already? or did you slipstream them?

2. When you integrate drivers are they installed at the end of the Vista installation? Audio, Graphics, etc...

Open W7T > WIM Manager > load the boot.wim and upload a printscreen :)

That's tougher than you may think, i can add a search box and a screen at the size displaying the Update.htm link to make it easier. However the remembering the last place to download would be easy to implement.

Can you make the Silent Installer, the better. Which also acts as a USB stick installation.

It could be a percentage of the running, although how much is the remainder of the installation. It is important that you get officet chipper, etc. at the same time.

It would not be a bad thing if the installer would automatically programs such as 7zip format and asking yet seriaalia Office, for example, or you can directly make it addonin. wa: n.

In that role when the weekend is approaching. I look forward to what changes should be excited. W7-Toolkit else can edit W8 Mil.3 versions). I made a package which included all 7 x86 & x64 and Windows 8 Beta.

Very active. Feeling more can I added Server 2008 & Server 2011 SBS!

Hopefully you understood what I was trying to explain. English is improving all the time, but slowly. :thumbsup_anim:

I may make a tool which can prepare a USB for boot and copy the installation files to make it work.

One more tweak. Change the boot screen image. :thumbsup_anim:

Is that even possible?

W7Toolkit 1.0.1.25 - Win7 Ultimate w/SP1

Services tab, items listed have empty check boxes; if any of these are checked is that status maintained in a configuration file somewhere so that the items appear next time with the boxes already checked? (I did notice that if I put a check in a box a window pops ups asking me how I want the service to start.) (Also - I did click 'More Service Info' and noticed the Black Viper page appeared with information for all.)

Tweaks tab, items listed have empty check boxes; same question as above - are they maintained?

Options tab, some boxes are checked, some are not; same question as above - are they maintained?

I think these three questions are important in that once I make selections I think are correct for my system(s) I would like to think W7Toolkit mainains a configuration file that I could save and/or copy somewhere just in case of crashes/problems/failures/etc. What I was thinking of is a Save Settings selection somewhere in the bottom margin - similar to Idle... which is shown.

Also, I'd like to be able to expand the open window left/right up/down rather than having to use the scroll bar - any way to do this?

Posted (edited)

I was actually thinking the same thing, i would hate to check all the checkboxes again each and every time. This will be done. I will have to fix the tweak error above first though.

EDIT: I selected every tweak and the worked fine. What else did you select except for tweaks?

Have you had time to plan whether it is possible to modify setup time wallpapers, and other improvements to what I suggested.

List of Windows 7 System Files to be Hacked Using Resource Hacker

Wednesday, 19 May 2010 11:41

Here is a list of various system files in Windows 7 which can be easily hacked using Resource Hacker:

Approx. all Windows 7 system icons -> %windir%\System32\imageres.dll

Login Screen Background -> %windir%\System32\imageres.dll

Login Screen image resources -> %windir%\System32\authui.dll

Startup Sound -> %windir%\System32\imageres.dll

Start ORB images -> %windir%\Explorer.exe -> Bitmap -> 6801 - 6812

Windows Version Image in "About Windows" dialog box -> %windir%\Branding\Basebrd\basebrd.dll

Windows Version Image in bottom of Login Screen -> %windir%\Branding\Basebrd\basebrd.dll

Control Panel Left Sidebar Image -> %windir%\System32\Shell32.dll -> Bitmap -> 632 & 633

Getting Started (aka Welcome Center) Images -> %windir%\System32\oobefldr.dll

Laptop Battery Meter image resources -> %windir%\System32\batmeter.dll

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) Resources -> %windir%\System32\ieframe.dll

Windows Media Player 12 (WMP12) Resources -> %windir%\System32\wmploc.dll

Above mentioned system files/locations are new to Windows 7 and were not present in earlier Windows versions, like XP. If you want to change look of other menus, dialog boxes like RUN, Progress, System Properties, Start menu, Taskbar Properties, etc, you'll have to edit some othersystem files which you needed to edit in Windows XP. But there is a little difference, now those files don't contain the resources but their .MUI files do.

For example in Windows XP, RUN dialog box resources were present in "%windir%\System32\Shell32.dll" file but in Windows 7, the resources are present in "%windir%\System32\en-US\Shell32.dll.mui" file.

All these .MUI files are present in any of following 2 locations:

%windir%\en-US\

%windir%\System32\en-US\

When you make the next major changes in this excellent program, could you please add a feature that allows drivers already integrated such visibility. So when I get back to edit imagea I can see directly what I've already done that. Now everything is empty.

Posted (edited)

That requires mounting the image first, like on Component Remover. You should remember what you have already integrated :P

Secondly, this should have been posted in the requests topic. No need to post it in there now though.

I'm just going to add a few tweaks, then i will need to finish Unattended Creator, as that has still not been finished lol. Once that is done then i can start on the requests.
