Posted March 25, 200718 yr bought a new hard drive yesterday and installed itits SATA as i wanted to move away from PATA (IDE)now XP shows the remove hardware safely icon down by the clock, it seems to think the hard drive is connected by USB....how can i resolve this?

Stupid question. Are you sure you don't have anything else connected to USB port. Can you check what is reported to be connected by clicking that icon in the tray?
March 25, 200718 yr If you try to remove it, it wont remove. Its only being shown there, I have had this issue with my friends computer. RyanVM have written somewhere in his forum that there may be a reg key that will hide the hdd but you should check mainboards web site. Cos we dont have any info with that key.Good luck
