Unattended not working

With build 63, I used the attached unnatended on a x64 7 ultimate sp1 dvd, and during install, the only preserved and working setting was the time zone. Weird bug...

Very strange, try the attached unattended file (i've moved some stuff around), let me know how it works.

I mean thru W7 Toolkit... :D

The program itself does not have any themes, when i said google it i mean't im sure someone else has asked before to choose the default theme for an image.

Had an exactly same problem...reported it a while ago... :g:

Oddly enough I have only couple of settings, that wont "stick" ...

Import it with Unattended Creator and set it to 'AnyCPU', hopefully that will work. :)

Still doesn't work. Gets very frustrating... :(

Attached the file used now. These here are the options I checked, and also accept EULA and the Ultimate serial.

Used Ultimate SP1 x64.

Tryed it without the skip user creation option checked, and it just won't work, also for a x86 iso. I'll also try the solution above, but that's it - autounnatended is clearly VERY buggy. :(

Do you use any of the 'Apply Unattended' options in W7T? either in WIM Manager or All-In-One Tool?

Not until I've seen this post. However, used the AIO option to apply unnatended, and it didin't work. Also I remade the unnatended file with what myselfidem said (as attached) and it didn't work either. I'm giving up with tests, to me it's very clear that unnatended is a no-go with W7T :(

Hoping you'll be able to make it functional soon...

Having a very same issue.

Remade Unattended file, still no go... :g:

I know it worked earlier, but since v55, it doesnt seem to work anymore...

Still asks about "update settings" and "network location"...

All other stuff, creating users, specifying timezone, moving folders, etc is working.

Replacing users default desktop background tweak, didnt get applied, also that image file is missing from installation altough I specified it as always...

Also for some strange reason, changing "SFX installer" background and logo also, didnt work... (or should image files be manually copied somwhere?)

At this time XML Creator needs to be improved!

Some values are missing to have a full unattended answer file!

You can find help to create your own Autounattend.xml file, here:

http://www.msfn.org/...seven-xml-here/

As example, my customized Autounattend.xml file:

Adapt to your needs. Always check your answer file with WSIM to see if there is errors!

I hope that can help!

@Legolash

Thank you for your hard work.

And we want more :)

I have got a question guys;

What does Logon Count mean in Unattended creator?

What are the differences between LogonCount=0, 1, 2 and 9999999?

Regards

9999999 - Counts as Infinite

All others mean exactly what they mean eq. 5 means 5 times, 6th time already ask password and so on.

If I understand correctly, Logon Count is tied to Auto Logon. In other words, you set up AutoLogon as to which account name and password to use to logon automatically, and you set Logon Count to the number of times you wish that to happen. Then each time the computer logs on automatically, the LogonCount is decremented by one in the registry. When the count reaches zero, it will no longer logon automatically. This feature is usually used in a training environment. If you set the logon Count to 9999999, then it disables the countdown, so AutoLogon happens forever. I could be wrong, but I think this is correct.

Full disclosure: I actually finally figured this out looking here - http://www.rt7lite.com/faq21.html. Look about 2/3 of the way down the page under Creating and autologon user accounts:

Cheers and Regards

Extract: Unattended Windows Setup Reference for Windows 7.chm

AutoLogon

AutoLogon specifies the account to use to log on to a computer automatically. Autologon credentials are deleted from the unattended installation answer file after Windows® Setup is complete.

Important: Make sure Autologon is disabled on computers that are delivered to customers.

By default, the built-in administrator account is disabled in all default, clean installations.

For Windows® 7 and Windows Vista®, you can enable the built-in administrator account during unattended installations by setting Username to Administrator (only the English word, Administrator, automatically enables the account). This enables the built-in administrator account, even if a password is not specified in AdministratorPassword. If a password is specified in AdministratorPassword, then use the same password in Autologon.

For Windows Server® 2008 and Windows Server® 2008 R2, the built-in Administrator account must have a password, and that password must be changed at first logon. This prevents the built-in Administrator account from having a blank password by default. Use the same password that was used in AdministratorPassword.

Both Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup | Autologon and Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup | UserAccounts | AdministratorPassword sections are needed to auto logon to a computer in audit mode. Both of these settings should be added to the auditSystem configuration pass.

Regards

*Edit: my Autounattend.xml file seems correct and works fine!

I would like to create a user named user1 in administrators group with Autounattended.xml and apply autologon to user1

is that possible?

We must take care about built-in Administrator and Auto Logon!

Using your name as Auto Logon and User Account seems correct and works fine for me!

Attached the file used now. These here are the options I checked, and also accept EULA and the Ultimate serial.

Used Ultimate SP1 x64.

VirtualBox has just finished, your unattended file works fine apart from it showed user creation screen. I didn't edit your unattended i just copied it straight to the dvd root.
