spacekowboy Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 When a user browses to the server in win explorer, is it possible to have them see only shares that they have permissions to? And not see all shares. Thanks Quote
NIM Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 As far as I know this isn't possible. You can only hide share by adding $ to the end of the Share name. This way this share becomes administrative share and you should know the path to it and have valid permissions to access it. Quote
NIM Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Hey again if you are using Windows Server 2008 or 2012 you can enable Access-Based Enumeration once you get the permissions setup correctly. This makes it so users can see only the files and folders they have access to.https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772681(v=ws.10).aspxSo for example if you have files (or other folders) that UserA doesn't have rights too they wouldn't be able to see them. This can come in handy if filenames or directory names could provide information you don't want known. But that is what you need right? Quote
