ndog Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi everyoneI am running sysprep and deploying image. On creation of new user account an icon on the desktop and startmenu is created for windows media player. I do not want the icon on the desktop to be created. I hope someone can help which entries to modify under wmp.inf.ThanksPS - Since it is my first post I will wait for the moderator to unblock me then I will upload file Quote
ricktendo Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I think thats actually created by unregmp2.exeTry with the registryWindows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Setup\UserOptions]"DesktopShortcut"="no""QuickLaunchShortcut"="yes"So when unregmp2.exe is run with /Shortcuts it will check the registry and not create a desktop shortcut. You can try it out on a live system, add the registry entry with your shortcut choice and run%WinDir%\inf\unregmp2.exe /Shortcuts Quote
ndog Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Thanks ricktendo64!I made this simple batch to automate the process as part of my pre sysprep cleanup script.reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Setup\UserOptions" /v "DesktopShortcut" /t REG_SZ /d "no" /freg load HKU\ZZZ "c:\documents and settings\default user\NTUSER.DAT"reg add "HKU\ZZZ\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Setup\UserOptions" /v "DesktopShortcut" /t REG_SZ /d "no" /freg unload HKU\ZZZ Quote
