monkee Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Does that happen only on XP partition or also on WIN7 partition? Further, do you have any "blocking" software such as PeerGuardian, firewall and so on? Was the installation of OS on which this problem occurs slimmed/trimmed/changed in any way (were certain components removed)? Quote
Legolash2o Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Also when you go to the 'Downloads' tab, does it also hang on there? Before it hangs does the webpage open at all or at least attempt to open? Quote
mikdik Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 (edited) well i use an nlited xp, i use onepiece's updates package and things like langages, printer drivers and a few other bits are removed, i have absolutely no probs with any other programs.Tabs open fine, it auto checks for updates on startup, says theres no updates, thats fine! when there is an update it goes to try and open update page and locks. works ok on win 7 but not tried to run it to grab updates as im 99% in xp!Next time theres an update, ill reboot into win 7 and check! thanks for the replys so far! TaNice place Hull but dont have pasport to travell to across the borders from london/essex (hehe) Edited July 5, 2012 by Muffy Quote
Legolash2o Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Just out of curiosity, have you removed Internet Explorer with nLite, also what's the default browser in Windows XP. Quote
mikdik Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 nope, i still use explorer as the main browser, and do have a portable version of firefox as some game files i want to grab completely screws up explorer, so firefox comes in handy! Quote
Legolash2o Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Ah that explains the problem, it can't find a default browser. Quote
ricktendo Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 This command always opens the default browserrundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler <url_here> Quote
Legolash2o Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 The problem is Ricktendo, he removed Internet Explorer with nLite, has no other browser installed and uses explorer to browse the web. However i will use what you have provided, assuming that i'ts available in XP so thanks EDIT: It's in XP so i will use what you have provided. Quote
ricktendo Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I see, you are using the API...BTW works with ALL Windows with url.dll Quote
Legolash2o Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Yeah i've noticed it works on XP. For some reason what you provided did not work within code, don't know why. Anyways, "explorer.exe <url>" does exactly the same thing and that works. Quote
mikdik Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 sorry you all missunderstood! i have not removed internet explorer, its workin perfectly its untouched as i prefere internet explorer!everything i use that i may click on to check updates explorer always opens! simple!
