Since Windows 8 became available on Technet I wanted to create a dual boot along with Windows 7 OS.
Using Partition Manager I have created unallocated space taking the free space from one of my partitions.
When I tried to create a new partition for the Windows 8 OS I got the following message:
” The operation you selected will convert the selected basic disk(s) to dynamic disk(s). If you convert the disk(s) to dynamic, you will not be able to start installed operating systems from any volume on the disk(s) (except the current boot volume). Are you sure you want to continue?”
For a moment I was a bit confused on why my system wants to convert basic disk to a dynamic disk.
Then I have realized that I already have 4 partitions on a Basic Disk, which is maximum of allowed partitions per Basic Disk.
Therefore I moved the data from one partition to another and deleted the emptied partition.
Now, I was able to create a partition on my Basic Disk to have a Windows 8 Dual Boot system.
