Slow refresh of shared folders on Windows 7
When you create a new folder under a shared folder on Windows Server 2012 you might experience slow refresh problems on Windows 7 clients that will not be able to see the newly created folder. Even with refresh of the folder view newly created folder won’t appear. It will appear automatically after several minutes.
If this slow refresh bothers you and slows you down in your work here’s what you can do:
Open regedit and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanworkstation\Parameters
Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value
DirectoryCacheLifetime
Set the value to: 0
Have in mind that you’ll have to do this on each Windows 7 client.
If this doesn’t help you please add the following keys:
DirectoryCacheLifetime = 0
FileNotFoundCacheLifetime = 0
FileInfoCacheLifetime = 0
Reboot your client machine and check again.
Have in mind that you should always make a backup of registry and your machine when tampering with registry settings.
Hope this helps and feel free to leave a comment below.
