Install printers on Windows 7 with user permissions
By default users without administrative permissions does not have permission to install printers from the server or the network.
To avoid granting users administrative permissions here’s what you need to do:
Open Local Management Console (gpedit.msc) from run prompt.
Navigate to:
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Printers
In the right pane open ‘Point and Print Restrictions’
Set it to ‘Enabled’
On both Security prompts disable elevation prompts as in the picture below:
Navigate to Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Driver Installation
In the right pane open the following setting:
Allow non-administrators to install drivers for these device setup classes
Type the following value:
{4D36E979-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Close the management console and you should be able to install printers with user permissions.
